From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within the city.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the party reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward the northern region in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Fans can expect learning which characters will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
