Finland Shocks Back-to-Back Reigning Champions the United States in World Junior Quarterfinal Round.

Finland's Arttu Välilä scored the decisive goal at two minutes and eleven seconds of overtime as Finland engineered a remarkable four to three win over the two-time defending champion United States on Friday evening in the IIHF World Junior Championship last eight.

"Got to give full credit to the United States," stated Finland's leader Aron Kiviharju. "They are a hell of a team, full of exceptional players and a well coached team. But I said we wanted that revenge from last year, and I believe we kind of earned it this evening."

The German team triumphed in the consolation match, defeating the Danes 8-4. M. Schams had two goals to ensure Germany retain its spot for the following season in the top division. The Danish side was relegated to Division I-A.
