Former Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors report that a former doctor has been charged with carrying out assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.

The Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

The charges follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents outline the 45 charges comprise:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Authorities are urging anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
