The Reform UK leader Accuses Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics
Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by instructing children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.
“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”
Reacting to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.
“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and now, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”
Reform, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and does not appear to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, his comments suggested the group would reform the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with schooling – absolutely herculean. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”
The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.
Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.
National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and extensive missed instruction for students.
During the American gathering, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He stated such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I am serious. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”
The college, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to every interested learner.”
