The Streaming Giant Selects Perfect Star for Bentham in One Piece Season 3

Baroque Works is set to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the real showdown won’t unfold until the next season, and a cherished, popular member has now been chosen.

The streaming service revealed recently that the talented performer will appear in the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will play Bon Clay. This character has the ability to morph into an exact copy of anyone they’ve touched with their right hand. The actor, who is gender non-conforming and prefers they/them pronouns, will portray a interpretation of that role re-envisioned as non-binary identifying, instead of as a drag queen, in the real-life adaptation, unlike the initial comic and anime.

Escola will work alongside several other fresh additions set to bring the group to reality, featuring head Sir Crocodile, brought to life by the well-known actor, Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the ensemble as the monarch of the desert kingdom.

Even though the role is a important part of the group, the persona won’t appear until One Piece season 3. Given season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this marks a notable change in the timing of their first appearance, one that could signal additional alterations to the story’s structure.

The actor’s combination of sharp comedic timing and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the part. In addition to their latest vocal work in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded characters.

Netflix's live-action One Piece program is set to return for its season two on March 10, 2026.
